Birds of Central Siberia

The major meridional zoogeographic border of Palearctic has placed on the territory of Central Siberia. It causes a combination of the representatives originated from the various ornithofauna. For some species, Central Siberia is one of the borders of natural habitat nesting and one can precisely observe the process of its expansion here. For other it is a zone of subspecies interbreeding and kindred species. On this territory many natural-zone areas from arctic deserts on the north up to half-deserts in the south can be viewed. Region represents the transional zone of several fauna types, or faunal groups of western and eastern origin. There are from the north - siberian taiga, from east - chinese-japanese, from south - mongolian deserted and tibetian mountain, from west - european deciduous forest and partly mediterranean faunas. Mountain relief in the southern part of Yenisei border complicates a picture even more.

Generally, about 390 species of birds stay here in different times. Some of them already are not to be found any more or turned to be extremely rare. Others appeared here as distant visitants.
